Making Chanel Green with Envy

Upon perusing the latest of Chanel arrivals for this season, I saw this stunningly elegant, and slightly mesmerizing, clutch. Made of interwoven satin, it’s soothingly delicate to the touch. However, what sets this piece apart from other Chanel pieces is the lock closure.  A vibrant jade green cabochon takes center stage here.

Um, what is cabochon, you ask? Good question! It’s a word we borrowed from middle French, which defines a stone that’s highly polished and shaped, rather than faceted. This treatment is usually favored for opaque gems (like the one here). Transparent stones sparkle with fire and depth when faceted, so that light can reflect at different angles.

No matter what angle you look at this sleek clutch, you can’t go wrong. Call your local Chanel boutique to see it in person. Strong rectangular lines and the weaved texture make this a standout.
