This bag from Barneys is $199.50, marked down from $695. I don’t usually lead with price when talking about bags I love, but this time, it was unavoidable!
Rich, bright pumpkin wool with leather trim in the bauletto style (bauletto translates roughly from Italian to mean trunk). A truly elegant addition to your cold weather wardrobe like this will definitely garner compliments for years to come. Why? It has the structural elements of midcentury style, which, because of its clean lines and classic proportion, always gets an approving nod. Plus, the brightness is grounded by the chocolate leather, and finished with luxe and pedigreed gold hardware. (I’ll bet you that Mad Men’s Betty Draper or Joan Holloway would carry this design with aplomb).
Linen lining with interior pockets. 7.5″ x 15.25″ x 5″ and a 5″ handle drop. Also in forest green.
If you had a little more money to spend for this look in a similarly unusual material for everyday wear, I’d suggest another of my favorite designers, Roberta di Camerino.
