Sunglasses. They are such a necessary accessory.

When you’re having a bad day, you hide your disappointed gaze from overly curious onlookers.

When you’re ebullient, you sometimes need to keep the twinkle in your eye to yourself, to avoid too much attention.

Either way, sometimes you need to keep your personal events within, without sharing the cues of your inner thoughts with perfect strangers…whom you’d like to keep perfectly that.

Yes, everyone can use a dash of mystery now and then. Black Coco Chanel sunglasses are the iconic symbol of this, but what if you want something a little more fun? Black can just be a little too basic, so let’s look at another designer with two Cs.

Pucci has a long history that started in the 40s with skiwear and scarves, and even Marilyn Monroe was buried in a Pucci dress. But most fashion historians would agree that the label came to life in the late 60s, when the wild geometry of prints would match the mood of the times. The bold swirls of color perfectly suited the free experimentation with psychedelia.

Well, psychedelia has run its course today, but not the spirit of experimentation and general curiosity in life. These oversized shades ($375 at Net a Porter) are a lot of fun, and would be perfect with a swimsuit, jeans, or a modern suit that needs a strong splash of style. And a tepid touch of mystery.
