{Opinionated} fact: Christian Louboutin makes some of the most flattering shoes out there for women who want instantly shaplier legs.
But his website is one of the strangest creations I have ever seen.
And I’ve seen a lot of websites. There’s an image of Louboutin himself, dressed up with pointed ears, glowing green orbs for eyes, and a platter of shoes in his hand. If you have the sound turned on, there is disturbing, intermittent tapping.
His shoes are tasteful, his bags are pretty, and his site is just….well, crazy and generally unusable. But maybe that builds the brand. My guess is that his shoes are so coveted that customers don’t care. ChristianLouboutin.com must be taking disco dust.
Though I was distracted by the site, I was inspired by one of his designs.
His newest version of the Miss Loubi bag is beautiful, because it presents a windfall of contrasts. The white and mirrored silver colors evoke a futuristic power look, while the writing skirts the border between Art Deco and 1970s glamour. (The curving line that swoops from the top right corner to the bottom center reminds me of 1. the slope of a heel and 2. a roller coaster. It’s actually the “C” in Christian that scrawled upside-down.) And the signature clasp of sky high heels is always a favorite.
Many fashion enthusiasts have picked up on the sleek Newspaper clutch that has the same finish, but this one is a little more elegant.
