JCrew has some cute bags this season. Though there totes and hobos are nothing particularly unusual and resemble many Coach bags, a few of their clutches are quite charming.
The satin fiore bags are very evocative of carrying a bouquet of flowers that lives on indefinitely. Mantero silk was used, which has a very distinguished history (Chanel uses this very same material exclusively for their scarves. A fantastic NYTimes archives article details the story of Italian silk well.) Rich in textures (cotton sateen, raffia straw, cotton twill and nylon), there is a great deal of visual and tactile interest. And though JCrew usually releases their items in a plethora of colors, the two they chose really do fill every need.
The canary yellow, a major color for spring 2009, gives an instant lift of positivity.
Meanwhile, the mocha color is absolutely elegant, and is a neutral calming force to any ensemble.
Details: 5″H x 10″W x 1 3/4″D, and $125 at JCrew. What purchase could be better for spring and summer events?
