Gorgeous Satchels from a Boston Brahmin

Affordable, lux-looking, and an eye catching color. A gorgeous satchel, brought to you by…Brahmin!

What does the name come from? The word Brahmin is Sanskrit, which is the highest class in Indian society.

Similarly, Boston Brahmins are known as the influential first families in the capital city. Names like Lodge, Emerson, and Winthrop were among the elite monikers that determined the tastes of New England from the 1700s and onward.

Borrowing from these connotations, Brahmin is a Massachusetts based designer, one of the very few in the state, and is known for the their long legacy of sturdy constructions in black, beige, and ivory. They break with tradition this season with brighter colors, like this showstopping model that is functional and fun.

The Soft Melbourne satchel is made of croc-embossed leather. There are quality touches, like the protective gold metal feet, and the rolled leather handles for extra comfort. And they always include the identifying gold medallion.

Besides the exterior side zip pockets, there is also an interior zip pocket, wall and cell phone pockets, pen loops, and a key clip. The dimensions are 14″W x 8 1/2″H x 5″D, so you can hold a fair amount.

Maybe it’s the bleakness of the times, but I’m longing for a pop of color to inject some spirit into the day. This bag does the trick, without doing huge damage to the bank account.

And, you can wear this bag for quite a while; the satchel construction and material are striking and will carry you through every season, whether you’re wearing a navy suit, jeans and a white top, or a black turtleneck and coat. You can wear basic, everyday clothing, and this bag will always add a pop of color. We found the pink version for $340 at Nordstrom.

The black and white version, in a d’Orsay style, is another gorgeous choice. I mean, seriously, black and white never ever, ever, goes out of style. It will look as stylish in twenty years as it does today (and it would have worked twenty years ago, too). This one is found only on the Brahmin site.
