Yes, this is a shot of the Mad Men cast. I’m in love with the period drama that illustrates well the internal desperation of characters caught in the milieu of the 60s.
Most striking about the show is the brilliant visual aesthetic this show creates. Accuracy in silhouette and color makes for a stunning backdrop to the unfolding story. If you like the fashion in this show, I have found a designer than can satiate your craving for this look.
Kotur, a refined line of bags started by Fiona Kotur Marin in 2004, has hit it big this year at the Golden Globes. Many stars were carrying her designs, including this favorite of mine at left — the d’Abo Marguerite, pictured here in Topaz and Hematite.
The designs tend to skew toward the vintage early to mid-60s — in other words, they would be simply stunning and in place on the set of Mad Men.
These small, structured bags have sunbursts with tiny Swarovski crystals in tonal colors — the overall look of each design is refined and sophisticated. The
dimensions measure at W11.5cm x H8.5cm x D5cm. There is a drop-in chain — but who really like to have a tiny box swinging unflatteringly from their shoulders, anyway? Ayers snakeskin and brocade lining complete this knockout look. $498 on their website. All of her designs are generally beautiful, and offer the appeal of fashion from another era.
And, p.s. — hematite bag at left here would be a fantastic and unexpected perfect pair with the Chloé boots below. Just pair them with a simple scoopneck minidress in dark grey to black, almost opaque tights, and you’re golden. It’s dressed up and down, so you could go anywhere and turn heads.
