Logo: A strong statement in all-caps that are bold and blocky, this is not to be confused with the gym of the same name!
Famous Handbag: No handbag can claim the title to outright fame, but their bags range from uninspired to a crisp class of style. The Lysia bag in putty is an example of the latter, with subtle gold trim and beautiful folding in the leather. Very graceful, yet free from an overly dainty impression.
In 1871, handbags were introduced into the business.
Company Control/Exclusivity: Bally passed out of family hands for the first time in 1977, purchased by Swiss investor Werner K Rey. Rey quickly sold his stake to Durlikon-Burhle Holding, a Swiss armaments company. Faced by declining margins in a worldwide recession, Durlikon-Burhle Holding Company sold Bally in 1999 to Texas Holding Group, a private American equity fund. The company is repositioned in that year as a luxury brand.
