Cole Haan is one of my favorite bag designers — they often have chic options that rival the most elite labels at very reasonable prices.

One of the latest options to catch my eye is the Genevieve bag, shown here. Though the bag is sold in three colors, the black is a standout, as it is the only one of the three that uses a mix of materials. The interplay of patent and suede is extraordinary in its appeal to your senses — the patent gleams in a festive way, while the suede satisfies your sense of touch.

The triangle tote combines practicality (adjustable handles) with a graceful silhouette. The handle allows the ease of carrying it over the shoulder, and the bag itself can carry a fair amount of possessions for everyday life.

This is one bag that gets my vote as a smart purchase. It most certainly can carry you through all the seasons for many years without looking dated. The weave pattern varies in shape for a very dynamic look, which echoes the style of Bottega Veneta.

The Genevieve is available in medium and large versions, as well as a beautiful clutch. The small version, pictured here, is $395. The larger version sells for $495.
