Say it five times fast…Monogramouflage Lys. It’s quite fun once you get going. This bag is one of the latest offerings from the behemoth design house of mass luxury, Louis Vuitton.
Relying on their standard monogram pattern, this material is denim canvas. The colors used are interesting here, as the denim is very neutral, and is punched up with the red.
It would be wise for Louis Vuitton to continue experimentation with their monogram color palette, as the gold and brown only works with so much. Their marketing campaign has pushed wearing the bag with all black, but who wants to always be the backdrop for a bag all the time — especially one that’s so recognizable — and frankly, ownable through knockoffs — by every woman and their mother? Don’t get me wrong — I love my Louis bags, but there has got to be a quality in the bags that makes them work with a good number of ensembles. Producing the monogram patterns in navy and gold, or a cooler palette, would be useful.
Anyhow, the Monogramouflage Lys is in an interesting and smart color choice, as the camouflage color reminds one of travel and everyday luxe wear. It’s not a bag that you need to worry about maintaining a pristine look with.
This line is launched for the Pre-Fall collection, designed by Takashi Murakami and inspired by his artwork entitled Magic Ball.
The double handle is a feature I’m dubious about, as I can envision one of the straps always falling away from the shoulder. The dimensions make for a sizable bag — 17.7″x 11.4″x 7.5″. Available for $2090 at eLuxury.
