Marc Jacobs has gotten on the same bandwagon as other designers this season with the dégradé style. What does dégradé mean, you ask? I like to think of it describing the gradual degradation of the color, fading from black to grey, or whichever color combination it happens to be.
Marc Jacobs has added the foldover combination to this one, and it may be a bit too busy — the handle conflicts with the clasp and handle. In any case, the bag comes out fairly well as an edgy accessory. It’s doubly roomy when used as a tote in its full size of 16″ in width, 7″ or 13″ in height and 6″ in depth, so there is some utility (which I think is very necessary when you’re talkin’ about a price tag of $1995 at Net-a-Porter! Aren’t we heading into a recession? If so, then this price may reflect more of a degradation in the power of your purse and the bills inside it!)
