Okay, so like many arbiters of design in handbags, I believe that you should spend money for high quality materials and design. Louis Vuitton, who has ruled the luxury domain with their monogram-covered bag madness, has generally failed in the respect of materials — the majority of their main line bags are canvas. Not leather, not any exotic skin — plastic coated canvas. How and why do we buy?

Well, that’s a topic for another time. Meanwhile, I must confess that I love a certain little bag from LV (well, a few, but I’ll just write about one for now). The Antigua Cabas PM is a cute little bag addition if you’re looking for a cruise line bag. I know that it strikes a certain nautical vibe, and while that trend may be over in the mainstream, there are certain elements that should bolster its popularity for awhile.
Firstly, there is great proportion between the handles of the bag. Secondly, the logo plate and rivets add a smashing worldly look to it. Thirdly, I just like this particular color scheme. This bag also comes in blue with navy straps, as well as brown with lime green straps. This one is the brightest and most versatile though.

At 9″ long, 8.5″ high, and 2.3″ wide, it’s not the roomiest bag, but you can get your essentials in there — it’s all about travelling light, after all! If you insist upon a bigger size, the GM can accomodate. Bonus: the interior pleasantly opens to a wonderful striped pattern. $565 at eLuxury.com.
