Fendi has usually struck me as a designer that is too modern for my tastes. Since the baguette and the spy bag phenomenons, the others have seemed a bit too trendy.
I think that this particular bag walks the line between trendy and classic — though it may be a bit too heavy on the patent leather.
The Mini Mamma bag — gotta love the name — is an eye-catching design that can add flash to your ensemble. The perspex chain handle is particularly distinctive, and as long as you don’t get fingers, jewelry, or hair caught in it, it’s a beautiful design element. It’s slightly space-agey, though we might want feedback on the longevity of this material on a handle. By the way, perspex is a lightweight acrylic resin, or plastic material.
I’m not sure that I’m fond of the flap edges, as the square edges strike me as almost too severe when compared to the curved sides on the bottom of the bag. However, the white stitching adds nice contrast to the bag to save it. Additionally, the bag may flare out too much on the bottom for some tastes, as it may not flow from the body very well. On the flip side, the belled-out bottom adds more roominess without becoming overbearing (though the larger Mamma bag is also a decent size).
The metal logo is somewhat understated as well, which is nice for Fendi! The width is 9″, height is 6″, and depth is 4″. Also, the handle drop is 7″, so you can just slip this over your shoulder.
