Is All Hermes Worth the Hefty Price Tag?

So, I’m one of the people that believes, perhaps mistakenly, that you should pay more to get more. More in terms of quality, or even prestige, as I know that the era of conspicuous consumption has arrived for many who want to appear that that they’re members of the privileged set.

There are many who pay more because….well, they can. And they like the rush from the inflated purchase. Who was it that said that luxury is a false sense of poverty?

Because when you’re paying $1575 for an unlined, cotton bag, you should feel a little bit poorer — in your wallet and your judgment. I mean, come on! I know it’s Hermes, but…let’s look at the specs. This is the smallest in the family of three sizes, at 12″l x 8″h x 5.25″ h. Okay, so what are you paying for? Um…the shoulder strap is detachable — that’s a bonus. It is 100% cotton, so maybe you could shrink it to fit your desired size in the dryer if you thought, well, I need even less of a bag for the money. It does have leather on there, so…there you go.

So, if you need a Birkin so badly but don’t have the money, just cough up 1.5 grand and you can own a piece of the Hermes legacy through the TPM Garden Bag.
