I’ve always been a fan of black and white, as the resulting graphic print always has a crisp look. I took a look at the Gucci Summer fashion preview, and was pleased to see the color combination running strong throughout their collection.
One of the best things about black and white is that you can mix virtually any accent color into it, and it works. Well, this design house knows that very well, as their shows incorporated two main vibrant accent colors — golden yellow and carnation pink.
I took three photos of the most translatable fashions from the show — what I like about this is the emphasis on wearable prints. In the first photo, the bold graphic is toned down by the simple black shorts. Women can take a cue from this in everyday life by pairing a bold graphic shirt, even if the graphic is on the shoulder, and pairing it with a simple black skirt and matching simple accessories. The purse is patent, so the shine gives it a very pop graphic look — very 60s. The belt finishes the look well to define the waist — a flattering technique for every woman.
In the next two photos, they took a stripe of varying thicknesses, which I love — stripes like these always look clean and timeless, and they can mix with a myriad of colors and patterns. The grey tones it down, so the pink jacket really stands out. It’s a nice, form-fitting piece that’s modern and classically feminine at the same time. With the golden yellow skirt, they again toned down the top with black, with an emphasis on the shape of the body, emphasizing it with a nice belt. Great looks that I think we can all take notes from for the upcoming warm weather! But, I guess I should be focusing on the fall and winter collections — it is, after all, the end of September in Boston…
