I love the rich, dark chocolate brown in the fall — it looks luxe and rich, a perfect complement for the raging colors of reds, golds and oranges that crown the trees in the New England area here. However, even in warmer climates, the color is a classic.

This bag, the medium metallic leather Bag de Jour, is one of my favorite picks for the season from Fendi. The crackled leather gives a wonderful visual interest to the bag, and the metallic finish is of the moment, yet subtle to avoid the appearance of blind trend following.

The shape is great too — it’s a frame bag, so it will always have structure, but the sides will let you put plenty inside. The rolled leather handles are a nice finishing touch, and the brushed metal hardware is monotone to let the leather take center stage.
