I am all about the unusual pieces that stand the test of time, as I try to ignore trends — unless they bring something truly beautiful to the fore.

This purse, the Ports 1961 Wooden clutch, is one of them. Made of black walnut and shaped into a 11″ x 6″ shape, I find this an understated, elegant classic piece that could be handed down, generation after generation, and would always be fresh. It’s $630 at Vivre, but I think that this piece just may be worth it.

The shoes to coordinate with the clutch come from a surprising source. (though perhaps not so surprising, given my obsession with the store this season). JCrew’s Erin peep-toe heels in the toasted pumpkin paisley print would be a gorgeous complement. The 3.5″ heels are generally lower than my preferred height of 4″ or 4.5″, but I think the design warrants wearing to dress up a boring pair of brown pants or jeans! I love the brass chains — I’ll be ordering my pair today!
